The Association of Practitioners in Learning Disability was formed in 2005 as a Registered Charity and Company Limited by Guarantee. The organisation has however been in existence since 1995. It thus has a considerable history of supporting the development and education of practitioners working with people with a learning disability.
The objectives of the Association include the education of the general public and in particular practitioners working in the field of learning disabilities. This is specifically but not exclusively by promoting the development of best practice and high standards of skill, care and services amongst practitioners with the goal of enabling people who have a learning disability to experience improved quality of life.
